What Are Your Options for Treating Back Pain?

If you’re experiencing back pain, you’re not alone. In fact, it’s one of the most common reasons people see their doctor. While there are a number of different causes of back pain, such as a sports injury or poor posture, there are also a number of different treatment options available. Read on to find out more…

CBD

CBD oil is a natural remedy that is said to help with a variety of conditions, including back pain. CBD oil is made from the leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant, and there are multiple benefits attributed to its use. It does not contain THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis, so it will not get you high, but it can relieve pain and relax muscles, easing your soreness and helping to restore full range of movement. CBD oil is available in various forms, including tinctures, capsules, and topical creams, so there’s an option for everyone.

Home Remedies

Along with CBD, which you can use at home, there are a couple of other home remedies that can help to relieve back pain. These include applying heat or cold to the affected area. A hot bath, Deep Heat, or a hot water bottle can work for applying heat, helping to relax your muscles, whilst Deep Freeze or ice wrapped in a towel can work for applying cold, helping to reduce inflammation. You can even add a muscle-relaxing bubble bath to your bath, which should help further.

Additionally, pain-relief medication such as paracetamol or ibuprofen can help address more general pain. However, be aware that long-term use of painkillers is dangerous, so consult with your doctor to discuss dosage first.

Physical Therapy

One of the most common treatments for back pain is physical therapy. Physical therapists can help you to strengthen the muscles in your back and improve your flexibility. Stretching will help to release trapped nerves and a compressed spine, whilst it should also give you increased mobility. If your back muscles need building, physical therapy can also teach you the best way to do this.

Massage

A popular treatment for back pain is massage. Not only is it relaxing generally, but massage can also help to relax the muscles in your back and improve circulation. It can also reduce inflammation and promote healing. There are a number of different types of massage, so be sure to discuss them with your massage therapist to find the best one for you. Massage may initially be painful, but after a few sessions, you should feel a big difference.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is another popular treatment option for back pain. In this procedure, thin needles are inserted into the skin at specific points on the body. This is said to help relieve pain by releasing endorphins and promoting blood flow. Whilst acupuncture may make you squirm at the thought of needles, it’s said to actually be quite an enjoyable experience. Traditional Chinese medicine swore by it, and it’s stood the test of time ever since.

Surgery

In some serious cases, your doctor may also recommend surgery. Surgery is usually only recommended if other treatment options have failed to relieve your pain. If you do require surgery, there are a number of different procedures that can be performed, depending on the underlying cause of your pain. You’ll need to see your doctor on multiple occasions to determine the underlying issue, and recovery can be slow and painful, but all being well, your back pain should be gone after you’ve recovered, which can give you a new lease of life!

Ultimately, there are a number of different options available for treating back pain. Which one is right for you will depend on the underlying cause of your pain. Be sure to consult with your doctor to find out which treatment option is best for you. Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for back pain. What works for someone else may not work for you, but with the right treatment, you can find relief and get back to living your life pain-free.
